We drove into Antigua yesterday afternoon and were able to spend time visiting with each of our teachers from the Spanish school last summer. It was good to see them and to hear how they have been doing. Times are hard there--only Araceley has found a job outside of the teaching field. She recently finished her college degree in social work and has located a job with a foundation that helps educate idigenous women and children. Nancy, Corina and Siria are teaching when there are students available, but weeks go by without students so the economic situation for them is difficult.
Last night we stayed at Hotel Encantada, a beautiful little boutique hotel in Antigua. We had supper at our favorite restaurant again. This morning we enjoyed a great breakfast on the terrace at the hotel.
