Global Outreach, Week 2

Yesterday was our second Sunday at Abundant Life's Global Outreach Conference.  We had the privilege of sharing in three adult classes in the morning and then attending the 4:30 p.m. worship service.

We also had the privilege to meet and share lunch with the other missionaries who were there:  Karen Kolb, Guatemala, Farah Marvil, Lebanon, Kevin & Britany Worley, Amsterdam and Matt Lawson, church planter in Los Angeles.

We were blessed by sharing and pray that the classes were also blessed to hear about the ministry in El Salvador and throughout the MetroAmerica area.

Global Outreach, Abundant Life

We flew in to Kansas City on Saturday afternoon in time to meet with Bill Gibbs, missions pastor at Abundant Life, Jacob and Nicole Cumberford, home missionaries in Detroit, and Jerry Abbott, with Mana Worldwide.  After the introductory meeting we all set up our display tables.

Sunday morning we attended the 8:00 a.m. service and then shared about our ministry in El Salvador, about Good News in Action and all of the MetroAmerica 0-20 churches in adult Sunday School classes at 9:30 and 11:00.  We also attended the 4:30 worship service and spoke to another class at 6:00 p.m.

Last Night in Kansas City

As always, time flies when we're in the states.  We have a seven o'clock flight to San Francisco and should be hugging the grandkids by lunch time.

Unfortunately for us, the weather has decided to throw a possible wrench is our last night and rather than have someone drive us to the airport very early in the morning, we are going to stay at the Fairfield Inn and catch their shuttle in the morning.  We'll leave my dad's car at the hotel and he and my brother will come pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

We always like reconnecting and catching up with family and friends and this time has been no different.  We were able to worship at Abundant Life on Sunday; Stephen spent time with his Mom and Dad in West Plains and we've continued our city-wide restaurant tour.

Is there a mission trip in your future?

Last night we had the privilege to enjoy BBQ brisket, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, salad and more at the home of our friends, Clayton and Suzanne.  It was a great way to spend a cold, cold evening.  (I'm sorry that the word "cold" has been one of my top words lately, but I just can't ignore the weather.)  Not only did the meal satisfy, but so did the conversation.  It's been quite awhile since they visited Guatemala on a mission trip, so we were able to fill them in on what has been going on at the church in Guatemala and the rest of our churches, as well.  The coolest thing was that we talked about their "next" trip.  I can't explain the blessing we receive when we have visitors from our home church.

If you've never been on a mission trip, please consider going (or coming.)  It's an experience everyone should have and it means so much to the people "on the ground."  Abundant Life is planning a trip to El Salvador in March.  It isn't too late to join in.  We'd love to do important work for the kingdom along side of you and your family/friends.
