Who needs a holiday?

Well, now that we're "retired" and have a thousand things to do before we leave, it seems like the holiday just got in the way of getting things done! So, the things we couldn't get done today get added to our list of things to do the rest of the week.

We were able to sell our audio system today so that's another item to check off the list. We're hoping to move most of the remaining furniture items out this week--one way or the other.

We also need to get started on some serious packing; figuring out what to take is going to take some time.

A series of goodbyes

Things have been so busy that it's been difficult to find time to post. The sale demonstrated that God "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think." His blessing poured out through his people and people we didn't even know.

We've are now down to a series of goodbye's . . . tonight was our last Connection Group. We are so blessed to have a supportive church, Sunday School class and Connection Group. It was great to spend time with friends and the picnic weather was perfect.

There are still many things on my "lists." We will be checking things off as we make our way to Tuesday, June 8.

El Salvador or Bust Moving Sale--Day 2 Wrap Up

We had an amazing sale--thank you to every single person who bought something. We sold everything from donuts to decor, beds to beads, DVD's to doormats and on and on. We needed a miracle and God provided!

If you missed the sale, we still have some great items on Craig's list.

El Salvador or Bust Sale--Day 1 Wrap-up

Amazing, tiring, unbelievable, exhausting, exciting, rewarding . . . . all words to describe Day 1 of the sale. Thanks to great church friends, FB friends and neighborhood friends many of our items went sailing out the front door. This moving sale process is incredibly hard work and I'm glad that it's only the second time in my life that I've been through it. There are many stories to tell, but it's very late and Day 2 starts early in the morning so the details will have to wait for another day.

Moving Sale T-9.5 hours

It's taken 4 solid days of work and lots of help from lots of friends to be ready to open the door tomorrow morning at 8:30. I have to say that having a price tag on nearly everything in your house is not the best decorating look I've ever seen.

We're so thankful that God is teaching us that it's just stuff and not even stuff that's needed (by us at least.) We're hoping other people find that it's stuff they need. :-)

Getting late and tomorrow will be a very long day. Praying for awesome attendance and great selling.

Pricing and Praying

It's been a very busy day taking care of details related to accounts and paying bills from San Salvador, posting items on Craigs list and cleaning out closets.

Thanks to the Sprinkles for all their help with sorting, bagging and pricing almost all of our Christmas items and CDs/DVDs. You guys are the best and we couldn't have done it without you.

Step one: selling our house in Lee's Summit (done); Step two: finding an apartment/condo in San Salvador--to be done. Please pray that we will find an apartment close to Jeff and Paula's (we might not have a car for awhile) that is reasonably priced. Thanks to William for looking for us before we get there.

God is so good to provide people here and in El Salvador who are prayer partners and good friends.

Sold!

Well, there it is right in my May 10 blog: "It sure would be great if someone would buy our house this week while I am gone." PTL that's exactly what happened--our house is SOLD. The paperwork was done very late Thursday night, May 13. Closing date is June 18. God's timing is perfect!

Travel time

I will be traveling the next three days (Kansas City, Baltimore, Atlanta, Kansas City) so there won't be much progress on the El Salvador or Bust project. It sure would be great if someone would buy our house this week while I'm gone.

What a difference a month makes!

It's still May 8th as I write this and one month from today we will be spending our first night on the mission field in El Salvador. It's both exciting and overwhelming!

My good friend, Jill, helped me pack up my mom's china and other personal items we will be storing here in Lee's Summit. We're trying to get the things we know we want to keep out of our house and into storage at family member's houses. The first truck load went to my dad's house today.

Continue to pray for us as we seek God's perfect timing for the sale of our house and finding an apartment in San Salvador.

Second retirement

Well, it's official--I have given notice for my second retirement. Although, I don't know if you can call it a retirement if you only worked 2 years. May 28 is the last day for me--hope I don't end up traveling too much between now and then. Have a trip to Baltimore next week, but that's the only thing on the calendar for the month (so far.)

Can't wait to get started on my third career.

All days can't be productive

I don't think I even had time to look at my list today, but I guess all days can't be productive!

Our house was shown twice yesterday and once today--to the same people. So, they must be interested. Thank you for praying about the sale of our house; please "keep it up" until you see the SOLD sign in the yard.

Tickets in hand

The date is decided and the tickets have been purchased. JUNE 8, 2010--we move to El Salvador to start our great adventure. We're praying that our house will sell before we leave, but are trusting in God's timing and provision.

What do you want for this?

Stephen and I have been working on pricing furniture for sale. Wow, it's difficult. The next step is to publish our pictures with prices. The big sale is Friday/Saturday, May 21-22. Tell your friends and neighbors . . . almost everything in the house will be for sale, including furniture, dishes, general kitchen stuff, small appliances, quilting fabric remnants, linens, Christmas items and much more. Sneak previews and early bird sales are available up to May 21. :-)
