May Campaign, Part 3

We started going to schools on Monday morning; the team shared the Sexual Purity lesson each morning.  As usual, the impact on the students was evident and there were many professions of faith each day.

On Wednesday, we made our very first visit to the Instituto Nacional General Francisco Menedez, one of the largest and most prestigious public schools in San Salvador.  Students must apply for entrance in to this vocational high school, where they can major in nursing, tourism, business as well as several other careers.  As always when we are at a school for the first time, Guillermo is anxious to see the reaction of the students, teachers and administration.  We're happy to say that they were thrilled and invited us to return as soon as possible.

On Friday morning we visited a very poor school in Aguilares; a school which Pastor Manuel, Guillermo and I had visited the week prior to the campaign.  The three of us visited with the principal and shared that we had about 100 handmade dresses to give to the girls in the school.  The dresses were made by several of the ladies of First Baptist, Ferguson, so it was only fitting for the team to be able to distribute them when they were here.  The team shared the lesson in the older grades; afterwards, at the principal's direction, we distributed the reversible dresses to some very happy little girls.

A Trip to Usulutan

On Tuesday, we left San Salvador at 8:30 a.m. and drove 2+ hours to Usulutan, a city fairly close to the ocean, which meant that the temperature was considerably higher than what we are used to in San Salvador.  Lucky for us, we had to take the inflatable so we followed the bus in our pickup.

More than twenty years ago, Vida Nueva helped plant a local church in the city and the youth pastor, Jonathan, arranged for us to present the sexual purity lesson at a local private, Christian school.  The students really enjoyed our time there and many of them made professions of faith.

After the morning in the school we all went to Wendy's for lunch and then went back to the church to rest before the family festival.  We also had a time of prayer for the church, it's pastor and the festival.

The evening campaign was in the city park,  right in front of the Catholic church, but it didn't stop us from sharing the gospel one-on-one, playing games with the kids and preaching after the drama.

The local church was very appreciative of our efforts and, especially grateful for the professions of faith that were made.  They will do the follow-up, and we are praying for "fruit that remains."  They invited us to return whenever we have the opportunity.

We ended the day with a two-hour bus ride back to San Salvador--it was a long, but rewarding day.

Monday Campaign

Monday was our first day to share a lesson at a school.  We were able to make five different teams and reach five classrooms of students. We arrived early so each group had time to pray before the class.

The teams presented the lesson on sexual purity so we were in grades six through 9.

In the afternoon we drove north to Aguilares to work with Pastor Manuel.  We set up the inflatable, sound system and movie in an open field.

It was a great day with a total of 125 professions of faith between the school and the festival.
